The goal of the Mental Health in Construction Training programme, which has been approved by the IIRSM, is to reduce the stigma that is associated with mental illness in the construction industry by raising awareness of the issue.
In addition to that, it provides supplemental materials and wellness toolbox that may be used to better manage day-to-day mental health.

Perhaps you’re wondering why we’ve developed a course on mental health for the building trades in particular. Simply put, it is unacceptable that poor mental health leads to over 200 annual suicides in the construction business.

The sad and rarely spoken reality is that stress, anxiety, and depression are common among construction workers for a variety of reasons and account for over 400,000 lost working days annually in the United Kingdom.

Construction is a mainly male sector, and as such, there is a’macho culture’ associated with construction sites and workplaces that can put employees under unnecessary stress if they are already dealing with mental health issues.

Our course on mental health in the construction industry is broken down into four manageable but equally important parts, each of which is designed to teach students about the different categories of mental health issues, the science behind our thoughts, and the resources available to them if they need additional assistance. The training is committed throughout to dispelling the stigma that still surrounds mental illness.
